A uniquely crafted oolong tea, Butter Oolong is celebrated for its naturally buttery flavor derived from its distinctive terroir and harvest season.
The rolled leaves steep to release an intense milk aroma with delicate floral undertones. This captivating flavor stems from a rare temperature shift during harvest at 500 to 1200 meters above sea level.
The leaves are withered, rocked, sifted for prime leaves, steamed over hot fires, then carefully dried and sorted to ensure superior leaf quality.
Produced in limited quantities from March to December, this oolong offers an exceptional tea experience.

Butter Oolong tea is something special! The naturally buttery flavor is really unique, and it has an intense milk aroma that’s so inviting.
I appreciate the care that goes into producing this tea, and you can taste the quality in every steep. It’s definitely different from other oolongs I’ve had. I enjoyed it on its own, but I can see how it would pair nicely with snacks too. If you’re looking for a unique tea experience, give this one a try!

The smell and taste of this oolong definitely lives up to its taste. This has been my favourite oolong tea ever since I first tried it way back in 2012.
It’s good hot as well as a cold-brew tea. Definitely a strong tasting tea and its name of “butter oolong” rings true — its aroma is very buttery and you can taste it as well. Floral undertone is more subtle but still detectable, especially if brewed hot and then cooled down. (Interestingly, you get less of the floral undertone if you cold-brew it, but potentially it’s because I might have added too much leaves as I’ve only recently started cold-brewing this tea. Will continue experimenting with leaf-water ratio)
Yields a yellow liquor after steeping. Leaves are tightly rolled so give the leaves space to expand when brewing (expands into beautiful full leaves with no tea dust). Stronger milk/cream/butter taste than jinxuan oolong which is the most famous milk oolong, but also means it’s less complex than jinxuan. If you want to try a milk oolong with a lighter taste, try the jinxuan!
As mentioned in the listing, it’s true that it’s good for multiple brews as long as you don’t oversteep the leaves and add enough. From experience, subsequent brews become more floral and less butter-forward. As with most oolongs, this tea is appropriate for gongfu style brewing.

This is one of those teas that you will drink and go wow! Of course, don’t expect it to taste like a butter waffle, these are natural flavors which are delicate and subtle. I am an avid tea drinker and purchase teas from all over to try. I can say the quality of this butter oolong is excellent and surpasses all the overpriced ones I have tried.
