Origin: Japan
Hojicha was the invention of a Kyoto tea merchant in the 1920s, who rendered green tea leaves brown by roasting sun-grown Bancha, a summer crop tea harvested after Sencha tea leaves. This process leaves the tea toasty and nutty with no bitterness. Hojicha tea is high in cancer-fighting catechins and anti-aging antioxidants. It is known for the low amounts of caffeine and tannin, making it suitable as an evening tea and also for children and elders. Earthy with a warm quality, it has a soothing, clean finish.
Place 2 teaspoons into a mug and pour 220ml of hot milk & enjoy. Add honey or brown sugar to taste

I’m a big fan of hojicha tea. It is something in between coffee, tea and chocolate! I sometimes add a spoon of honey or dark brown sugar, which makes it a fantastic treat. With proper brown sugar (I use Billingtons) I don get a sugar spike (I am diabetic). A great tea that is much better quality than the ones I get from other brands from shopee or iherb. I do highly recommend giving this a try!

A very high quality hojicha, just like the ones I had in the teahouses in Kyoto. Smooth, rich and deep, it is toasty, nutty and chocolatey. Very impressed by a local tea supplier carrying such good teas. I also tried the Kiwami Matcha which was in another class of its own. Highly recommend this tea company!

Hojicha is my favourite tea. Its flavor is really unique—it’s roasted, so it has this warm, earthy vibe to it that’s different from your typical green teas and it has a nuttiness with a subtle sweetness. I find it soothing to sip on especially in the evenings.
It is gentle it is on my sensitive stomach compared to typical green teas, if you’resensitive to caffeine, it gives an energy boost without the side effects of coffee.

A wonderful introductory Japanese tea for beginners. Brew and enjoy it slowly, one sip at a time to enjoy its full flavors. New flavors emerge as the tea cools. . Unlike traditional green tea, which have a more raw green taste, hojicha is smoother and less astringent. It has a mild sweetness that balances out the earthiness. Delicious and comforting!

I buy this regularly for my dad who is a hojicha, matcha and puer tea drinker. He approves this one, just to say he is really fussy over his teas.

Very nice and smooth with almond milk or oat milk. I recommend mixing with an electric whisk from daiso until frothy, it makes it all the more creamy and delicious!

My 18 year old son likes this so much. It helps keep him focused and increases his energy to study for his exams. He is very health conscious so he he drinks it with oat milk only, no sugar. He says it is to his taste and tells me to buy from craftsman tea only.

Hojicha is a great way to wean away from coffee. It gives the kick of coffee without the palpitations and headaches coffee causes me. I’ve tried black tea and oolong teas but I find this hits my satisfaction level the nest. It is rich and smooth without the wrong kind of bitterness you get with low quality teas.
