Description
About Puerh Tea
Pu-erh tea has been harvested in the Yunnan Province for 1,700 years, and the medicinal and health benefits of pu-erh tea has been touted for for centuries. Pu-erh is harvested from the Camellia sinensis tree like all tea, but the leaves of the pu-erh tea variety are broad leaves. It is these broad leaves that yield a higher oxidation level when the tea is fermented that is believed to produce pu-erh tea’s health benefits.
THE WONDERFUL HEALTH BENEFITS OF PUERH TEA
Reducing Cardiovascular Risk
Pu-erh tea comes in a variety of forms and is either raw or unfermented or fermented and processed. Studies have found that fermented pu-erh reduces the lipids or fats in the blood and can be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disorders because it reduces blood lipids.
Antioxidants and Cancer Prevention
All teas made from the Camellia sinensis plant contain antioxidants called catechins that help fight cancer. Pu-erh that is processed and allowed to ferment is a black tea that also contains catechins. Catechins in pu-erh tea lock onto the oxidating elements in the blood and destroy the oxidative process thereby preventing cancer.
Slimming & Anti-Obesity
Pu-erh tea is known for helping to regulate body weight. Studies have found that pu-erh tea had a greater ability to regulate and reduce body weight than any other tea studied. The study concluded that the compounds found in the pu-erh tea that had an anti-obesity effect were catechins, caffeine, and theanine. Pu-erh tea was also shown to reduce the fat content in the liver in various studies.

Super love this puerh tea! It is pure and simple and really relaxes me. Good after a big meal as my stomach feels more settled down after I eat too much!

A good tea to serve to guests with snacks or after a meal together. It can be steeped for long and can make many brews, so you can concentrate on your conversation with friends without having to manage the tea. Generally puerh appeals to everyone both tea and tea drinkers. I recommend to steep for a longer time around 5 min, as the woody and earthy flavors really come through. Good for cold brew as well if that is what you like . Just add room temperature water and steep in the fridge overnight .

A nice puerh with just the correct amount of earthiness that I like puerh for. This is “cooked” puerh and is fully fermented. This makes it very smooth and have a deep taste. Thumbs up!

Quite a good puerh with sufficient depth. Low in caffeine and suitable for late afternoons/evenings.

Puerh tea is the only tea I drink. It is satisfying like black tea but softer and more mellow as there are less tannins. I would recommend to those who prefer black teas over green teas.
