THE WONDERFUL HEALTH BENEFITS OF BLACK TEA
Antioxidant Rich
While green tea contains a high number of health effects, black tea isn’t far behind. Black tea is further fermented green tea leaves that are dried in the manufacturing process. Antioxidants slow down the process of aging for tea drinkers. One of the most important antioxidants in black tea is theaflavin, which scavenge abnormal cellular bodies, ridding the body of these abnormal cells before they mutate and become cancerous. Theaflavins are also responsible for inhibiting oxidation, particularly of LDL cholesterol
Heart Health
Drinkers who enjoy black tea regularly may benefit, especially if they already have cardiovascular disease. Because the theaflavins stop oxidation of LDL cholesterol, this effect helps to reduce the risk of heart disease. Drinking black tea may help heart attack patients by increasing their rate of survival following a heart attack. Black tea improves the ability of the blood vessels in the body to relax and expand, thus helping consumers maintain a healthier blood pressure. Black tea also contains a molecule called a catechin, which produces nitric oxide, helping the blood vessels in the body to dilate.
Fights Cancer
Chemicals found in black tea have been tied to a decreased risk of breast, stomach and colon cancer; however, this connection has not been definitively proven. Researchers at Rutgers University have found that a compound in black tea called TF2 kills colorectal cancer cells. Normal cells were not affected in this way.
Deactivates Viruses
Researchers have known that black tea can render the germs that cause diarrhea, skin infections, pneumonia, cystitis and skin infections. Tea drinkers can also kill viruses lurking in their mouths.

Definitely a very strong tasting tea, this is a case of you get what you order. This is quite literally the smokiest lapsang souchang i’ve ever had and it’s incredibly delicious. However, be warned if you’re new to lapsang souchang it’s definitely a unique taste. Don’t blind buy 100g, try a bit first.
I can definitely taste the fruit aftertaste, but it’s a little hard to taste because it’s incredibly smoky. This makes this tea very savoury. Its smoky taste means it pairs well with ham as a snack interestingly enough! (I’ve not personally tried it but I have seen recipes to make vegan bacon with lapsang souchong because of this smokiness)
After steeping, it yields a dark amber liquor. Do not oversteep, as with many black teas, it will get astringent (siap siap taste) with oversteeping (however, it’s not so bad because the smokiness covers it up a little bit). Tried it with a little milk which cut down on the smokiness and allows other flavours to come through more, but I definitely prefer it on its own.
