Why is our Ginger Tea different?
We carry only 100% authentic Bentong Ginger, direct from farmers in the highlands of Bentong, Malaysia. It is absolutely pure and not mixed with “Bentong” Ginger from China or Thailand.
Bentong Ginger grows on the cool mountains where clean natural water, crisp air and nutritionally-rich soil is in abundance. The ginger is harvested only one time a year, allowing its sweet flesh to absorb a full range of nutrients from the fertile soil. This makes it extremely nutritionally dense with a good concentration of active compounds which give Bentong Ginger its amazing healing properties. After the yearly harvest, the land is then left to fallow for 5 to 10 years before it is used to grow Bentong Ginger again.
This variety of ginger is spicy, sweet and fragrant. It is harvested and quickly sliced to intensify its flavor. A sprinkling of 100% natural honeyleaf (for teabag orders only) gives a subtle sweetness and balances its bold spiciness perfectly, sans the sugar.
Active Ingredients:
Gingerols and the volatiles oils sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes are the main active ingredients of ginger root. The active ingredients in ginger are what improve the elasticity of the skin by preventing free radical damage, keeping your skin looking firm and youthful.
Herbalists have relied on ginger as a medicine and flavoring for more than 2,500 years. The early Greeks mixed it into breads (hence the first gingerbread), and North American colonists sipped nausea-quelling ginger beer, the precursor of modern ginger ale. Today, many cultures continue to rely on ginger for controlling nausea and also for reducing inflammation.
