This mushroom is native to the highland regions of the Atlantic Forest in São Paulo State, Brazil. It is commonly known as Almond mushroom due to its distinctive almond-like aroma and flavor and is also referred to as 姬松茸 (Himematsutake) in East Asia.
Traditionally used in Brazil, Agaricus blazei (also known as Agaricus subrufescens) supports liver and heart health, healthy blood circulation, balanced cholesterol and blood sugar levels, emotional wellbeing, bone mass, and immune system function.
This flavorful mushroom has a mild, nutty, almond-like taste with a light, sweet, seafood-like note.
Instructions: Steep mushroom in water until soft. Strain the mushrooms. Add to stews, soups or stir-fry. Soaking liquid can be added to soup.
Broth base: Boil 10g of dried mushroom in 180ml water.
